Each morning, a selection of breads and pastries are baked in their stores – nothing compares to biting into a croissant minutes out of the oven. In addition, an assortment of their products are “homemade” at their bakery in Queens (aka Pain D’Avignon) and delivered to the cafés within hours of being removed from the ovens. This simple notion of freshness makes their food shine. In addition, they serve up classic espresso-based drinks using Stumptown Roasters.
Cafe D'Avignon believes that offering extraordinary coffee and matching pastries under one roof is what sets them apart and makes them unique. They also use Mod Bar, the next generation of coffee bars. Their management team is very smart and hardworking as they continuously work on making their offerings better and more exciting with no plateaus. Ultimately, they're very passionate artisan bread and pastry bakers in NYC with a few cafes and more on the way.
Cafe D'Avignon is a local NYC based bakery and coffee shop with major expansion plans. The Corporate Barista is a newly created position and will work closely with the Director of Operations and owners. This position is for a serious, expert-level barista with management experience who is looking for the next step in a career in specialty coffee. This is a hands-on position as the right candidate will be working a coffee bar. Projects include: creating their official Coffee Manual, initiating food pairing programs, seasonal specials, etc.
Applicants should love being a barista and be very knowledgeable on all things coffee related. They should also understand the nuances of what makes a great shot, skilled at steaming milk, micro foaming, latte art. Being well-spoken, confident, and a "people person" will help with creating a friendly environment to train and continuously mentor baristas in all Cafe D'Avignon locations!
• 5+ years experience in a high volume, high end, specialty coffee shop/cafe
• Knowledge and love of making coffee, dialing in, pulling shots, pulling shots, micro foams, latte art
• Full knowledge of different equipment, machines, smallwares, bar ergonomics, etc
• Ability to recruit and hire baristas
• Must have NYC Food Handlers card
• Must have open availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends
• Willingness to travel
• Three year commitment
