Front Manager

Hewn Bakery, a nationally recognized artisan bakery in Evanston, Illinois, is currently searching for a new Front Manager. They are looking for someone who is committed to working effectively with a team, while providing outstanding customer service and excellent leadership for their front staff. Hewn hopes to begin training the right candidate for this position in late June/early July 2018!

Role

The manager is responsible for fulfilling all responsibilities of front staff/barista including providing excellent customer service, monitoring quality control of daily products, building a positive relationship with customers and responding to customers’ questions and concerns in a timely manner. This candidate must adhere to food handlers safety and ServSafe requirements and complete all FOH duties including register, packaging product, customer service, cleaning etc.

Responsibilities also include managing all scheduling of front staff, drivers and packagers, training new front staff, handling and monitoring all phone and email orders, including entering items in the production system, and coordinating with the Head Bread Baker/Head Pastry Chef. The candidate also handles and monitors all catering orders as well as order all retail and packaging items and front food and drink items, and manage inventory of those items on a weekly basis.

The manager must work with other Hewn Employees in a collaborative fashion and communicate with Owners and Head Baker/Pastry chef to resolve any issues on a daily basis. They must also participate in weekly Leadership meetings, schedule/coordinate front staff meetings, attend community events/meetings as needed and coordinate community donations and keep track of those donations for yearly review. The candidate must supervise the register and daily cash input as well as be "on-call" with the responsibility to respond to problems or fill-in when needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ year of coffee shop experience
  • Latte Art skills required
  • ServeSafe certification
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to be on feet for several hours at a time
  • Must have early morning and weekend availability (Wednesday through Sunday)!

Salary

Salary is competitive, based on experience. 
Health care benefits are available for full time staff after 3 consecutive months of work.
